Uses:

  • Small concentrations of the induce warm, woody and natural notes to perfumes such as oriental bases, chypres, violet bases and certain floral perfumes and many types of aldehydic themes.
  • In foods and beverages, costus oil is used as a flavouring component.
  • In manufacturing, costus oil is used as a fixative and fragrance in cosmetics.
  • Costus root is beneficial in the treatment of respiratory disorders like bronchitis, asthma and cough, especially in controlling attacks of bronchial asthma.
  • It produces a slight but persistent rise in blood pressure.
